From a broken sporting dream to Smart Psoriasis Life.

I write as someone who has lived with psoriasis for over 30 years, not as a doctor. At my worst, psoriasis covered up to 95% of my body. The new site is my attempt to keep the honesty of the old Smart Psoriasis Diet, but remove the overconfident claims I would not make today.

The short version

Psoriasis started for me when I was 14. I was playing Gaelic football, trying to be a normal teenager, and suddenly I had visible skin I could not control.

I tried coal tar, Dovonex, Betnovate, hydrocortisone, acupuncture, alternative approaches, oral medication, Dovobet, hidden steroid creams, diet changes, supplements, coconut oil, sunshine, exercise, and just about everything else I could get my hands on.

The old Smart Psoriasis Diet came from genuine personal improvement. It also included claims I would not publish today: Candida as a root cause, detox protocols, universal food bans, and anti-steroid certainty.

What changed

After 30 years, the pattern I cannot ignore is stress. Diet matters. Sunshine and Vitamin D context matter. Skincare matters. But when stress is out of control, the rest of the plan starts to wobble.

That is why Smart Psoriasis Life is not a diet site anymore. It is a minimum effective system for reducing overwhelm, tracking personal triggers, and using lifestyle and medical tools pragmatically.
